Snacking Making Easy: Homemade Granola


In search of the perfect outdoors snack? Before you hit the trails, try this easy homemade granola recipe! Making your own trail mix is easier than you think! Just grab some old-fashioned rolled oats, nuts and dried fruit and you’re on your way. By making your own granola, you’re avoiding many of the added sugars and preservatives that many trail mix companies add in their products to extend shelf life.


2 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats

1 cup of sliced almonds (or other sliced nuts)

1⁄2 cup of coconut flakes

1⁄4 teaspoon of sea salt

1⁄4 teaspoon of cinnamon

1⁄2 cup of agave nectar (or pure maple syrup)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 cup of dried cranberries

1 cup of dried apricots (or other dried fruit)


Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine the oats, almonds, coconut flakes, sea salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Add agave nectar and vanilla extract to mixture. Mix until agave nectar is mixed in evenly. Pour mixture onto baking sheet (spread out into one layer). Bake for 30 minutes. Be sure to stir mixture every ten minutes so that the full batch is evenly baked. Remove from oven and allow mixture to cool. Pour mixture into bowl and mix in dried cranberries and apricots. Be sure to break up any large clumps! Enjoy!
