We tried sweetgreen's new app
Finding a good salad joint is not always easy. In fact, sometimes it's really hard. Where do the vegetables & proteins come from? Is the food made fresh to order? Can it accomodate my friend who's allergic to nuts and gluten? These are the questions we'd want answered when considering grabbing a quick salad post run/workout. Luckily for us, there's sweetgreen.
sweetgreen is a fast food restaurant that offers salads and grain bowls with seasonal ingredients. They source locally grown and (sometimes) organic foods. They also give back to their local communities through their sweetgreen in schools program, which aims to teach kids about healthy eating, fitness and sustainability.
sweetgreen rolled out a big upgrade to their mobile app and invited City Fit Girls Run Club to test it inexchange for a free meal. The plan was to order salads before the run and expect them on arrival.
So, what do we think about the app?
The design is AMAZING. It's probably the prettiest app we've seen in awhile. It's very easy to navigate and very user-friendly.
We really like that it calculates the calories for you. Not all salads are created equal.
It's also really cool that you can preset your dietary restrictions before ordering. Saves time from scrolling through items you definitely don't want anyway.
We had a little bit of technical difficulties ordering with our promo code but the sweetgreen rep was super helpful (the nicest person ever!) and took great care of us once we arrived to the store. For those who were able to order before the run started, their meals were ready on arrival as expected.
We need to note that the staff at the sweetgreen walnut street location (39th & Walnut) was simply the best. They were VERY friendly and VERY efficent. We know it was stressful dealing with 30+ runners PLUS their usual long line of folks. They were patient, kind, and made the experience 10x better than it already was. Thanks sweetgreen!
