This workout is designed specifically with 10K runners, half-marathoners and marathoners in mind. Instead of relying on shorter 400 meter repeats, this workout goes the distance by pushing you to ‘Thousand Island’ - tough 1,000 meter bouts with a walking or jogging breaks in between each rep.Read More
If you’ve ever followed along a distance running plan, you’ve probably come across the terms “cross-training” or “strength-training” on your schedule. Sadly, if you’re like most of the runners I know, you either skip those workouts or opt for a friendly yoga or spin class. Now before you spit out your coffee, I’m not saying yoga and spin are bad (I enjoy doing both workouts!). What I’m saying is that if you want to reduce your chance of injury and become a stronger runner, your cross-training should also include at least one or two days of weight training.Read More

When Kiera asked me to create a half-marathon training plan, I was excited to create something to help her cross the finish line at the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November. If you've been following her on Instagram, you know that she's been spending a lot of time on her yoga mat and at the gym and less time putting in long distance mileage.Read More

Have you been thinking about switching up your regular routine and hitting the trails for some (or all) of your runs? If you find yourself itching to escape the roads or the treadmill, trail running can be a great option for you. In fact, according to Scott Douglas, the author of Running is My Therapy, studies have shown that running in nature can be very beneficial for our mental health.
This past weekend, we kicked off City Fit Girls Streak with a 9ish mile bike ride in Philadelphia. Like our group runs, our rides are welcoming to cyclists of all fitness levels.
We started at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and made our way down Martin Luther King Drive to take advantage of the Sunday morning car-free roads.Read More

We chat about how we started City Fit Girls, mental health, our future plans for the group and other topics that we think you'll enjoy. Give it a listen and be sure to share it with your family and friends.Read More
If you haven't tried BPM Fitness yet, you are missing out. They have created a very unique workout experience unlike anything I've seen in the Philadelphia area. When I first tried the studio a few weeks ago, I joined without any hesitation. I felt strong, empowered, and like a total badass. When the opportunity came up for City Fit Girls to host two private workouts, we jumped on it right away.Read More

Trying to figure out what workout to do at the gym can be overwhelming. You're surrounded by machines and people who look like they know exactly what they're doing. Instead of asking for help, you find yourself intimidated by the whole experience and head to the sauna for some quick relief. Whew.
If you've ever found yourself in this situation, this workout is for you.Read More
This past weekend, we headed to Center City for two back-to-back sessions at Fit Tribe, a gym that provides both group personal training as well as one-on-one personal training. We learned about this gym from our friend and Coach, Rosie, who teaches at their Bryn Mawr location. She hosted a workout at last year's City Fit Girls' FitRetreat and we heard nothing but positive reviews. The best part about Fit Tribe? All workouts are just 30-minutes!Read More
