City Fit Girls Streak is back! [July 2018]

Summer is officially here and it's that time of year! No, we're not talking about chilling out on the beach (although you should do that too), we're talking about City Fit Girls Streak! We're challenging the women in our community to 31 days of physical activity throughout the month of July. Are you in? 

Yes? Great. To keep you motivated, we're giving out prizes at the end of every week to City Fit Girls who participate using the hashtag #cityfitgirls on Instagram or posting their photos on our Facebook page

How It Works

Ground rules: Commit to running 1 mile OR participating in at least 30 minutes of physical activity everyday. Post EVERYDAY using the hashtag #cfgstreak on Twitter, Instagram AND/OR post on the pinned post on the City Fit Girls Facebook page. 

Remember, the challenge will begin on July 1st and end on July 31st. 

Who can participate? If you believe in inspiring other women to reach their fitness goals, you can participate! Feel free to invite your best girlfriend, mom, auntie, sisters, and cousins.

P.S. If you're new to working out, consult with your physician before trying any new workout regimen.

Engage: This is the most important part! Use the hashtag #cfgstreak on your social media posts so that other women in the network can "like" and comment on your pictures. Be sure to connect with other City Fit Girls online, don't be shy! 

Seriously, we can't stress this enough. This community only works when you interact and encourage each other!

What counts as physical activity? 

Doing pretty much anything except sitting on the couch. Commit to doing at least 30 minutes of physical activity OR run at least 1 mile everyday. Sample workouts include the following: 

  • A 30 minute bike ride (leisure or commuting)
  • A fitness class (Spin, CrossFit, Barre, Pilates, etc.)
  • A 30 minute walk through the park or on the treadmill
  • A yoga class or practice at home
  • Go for a swim (Sorry, floating in a donut does not count)
  • A 3-mile run or 30 minute tempo workout
  • A hike on your local trail
  • Standing up at work for 30 minutes when you're normally sitting down

Is there a workout or physical activity that we missed? Do it and let us know when you're done! Don't forget to share using the hashtag #cfgstreak. 

Remember, the goal is to workout or run everyday.

FAQS... Because we know you have some questions.  

What if I miss a day? Don't sweat it. Feel free to jump back in when you're ready. 

Can I start the challenge at anytime? If you missed the beginning of the streak, you can jump in at any time during the month. 

Is working out everyday bad for me? Yes, if you go overboard. Be sure to add low-impact workouts and yoga into your fitness regimen so that your body has enough time to recover in between tough workouts. It's also great to mix it up with walking or taking active rest days. 

I'm suffering from an injury, can I still join? You probably cheer from the Instagram sidelines but consult with your doctor to be sure. 

I hate social media, how will I share? Selfie or it didn't happen. Just kidding, but this is a social media based challenge so sharing is caring. Be sure to always tag @cityfitgirls #cfgstreak.

I can't access City Fit Girls' Facebook page, what should I do? Like our page

Are there organized City Fit Girls group runs and workouts to participate in? Yes and no. Feel free to connect with other women in your city to schedule workouts, runs and more together. Check out our Facebook groups below:

What happens when I complete the streak? You'll feel really, really good about yourself! You'll also be entered to win a grand prize - more on that later.
