Spring 2017 Races That We're Excited About
Spring 2017, anyone? With the Fall 2016 race season officially coming to an end, it's about time for us to start planning out our training and running schedules for the spring! We've updated our list from last year - added new runs and updated some dates - to help you pick out events for next season.
Whether you're thinking about your first 5K or your next half-marathon or full marathon, this list will keep you busy throughout the spring. Let us know what races you're planning to run in the comment section below!
March 19 - Publix Geargia Half/Full Marathon: The 2016 Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon will host more than 16,000 runners. The course heads through some of the most noteworthy and historic areas in greater Atlanta, including Piedmont Park with the start and finish areas in Centennial Olympic Park!
March 25 - Atlanta Women's 5K: Celebrate women and fitness at the Atlanta Women's 5K on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in for a day designed for women. With the special mother-daughter and sister team award categories, finishers medals and flowers at the finish line and a women's-fit Mizuno performance shirt, the Atlanta Women's 5K is the perfect event for women and girls ages 8 & older.
April 2 - Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K: Continue the St. Patrick’s Day celebration and kick off the running season in Chicago at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. The 8K (4.97-mile) run is a Chicago tradition with a course that weaves its way through downtown Chicago, starting and finishing in Grant Park.
May 21 - Chicago Spring Half Marathon: Start your race season on the right foot with the Michelob ULTRA Chicago Spring 13.1 & 10K! Just steps away from Lake Michigan; enjoy the intimate urban venue, gorgeous lakefront course and gourmet hot breakfast along with a refreshing Michelob ULTRA at the finish line.
Feb 5 - Humana Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans 10K, Half-Marathon & Marathon: Through the years, Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans has become one of the biggest party courses with its on-course frivolity, abundance of local musical acts and epic Finish Line Festival complete with free-flowing beer.
June 3 - ZOOMA Annapolis 5K, 10K, & Half-Marathon: Let patriotic pride fuel you on this tour of one of America’s great seaside towns. Starting at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, it’s hard to not feel your heart swell listening to the National Anthem in the excitement-filled moments before the race starts. Out on the course, runners loop around the lovely, brick Maryland State House before running past the Naval Academy.
May 13 - The Maryland Half Marathon & 5K: The 13.1 mile course runs through scenic Howard County beginning and ending at the Maple Lawn Community.
March 25 - Back on My Feet 5-Miler: The Stroehmann Bakeries Back on My Feet 5-Miler is a race to get you prepared for your best Blue Cross Broad Street Run finish yet!
March 26 - The Love Run Half Marathon (Philadelphia): CGI Racing introduced The Love Run~Philadelphia half marathon in 2014 and it quickly became the City's premier Spring half marathon. Your love of running combined with all the great sights and sounds you love about Philadelphia. Join thousands from around the nation for an unforgettable weekend to kickoff the Spring in the City of Brotherly LOVE.
May 7- Broad Street Run 10-miler (Philadelphia): The Blue Cross Broad Street Run course is a 10-mile, point-to-point course.The course is a pleasing run past the varied neighborhoods of Philadelphia along Broad Street. The race finishes inside the Philadelphia Navy Yard at the end of Broad Street in South Philadelphia. [Lottery opens Feb 1]
March 18 - Haddonfield Adrenaline 5K: The 12th Annual Haddonfield Adrenaline 5K Run will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017. The 5k starts at 9am in front of Haddonfield High School and is followed by a kids 1/4 mile and 100 meter races on the Haddonfield High School track. The 5K race is USATF certified, and serves as the MidAtlantic 5K Championship. This event is sponsored by the RunningCo. of Haddonfield.
April 22 & 23 - Atlantic City April Fools 7K, 11K, & Half Marathon: With a flat, fast, and unique course beginning in Atlantic City, runners will spend a few miles running on the wood planks of the boardwalk before heading through sleepy beach towns with ocean views the entire way. Live course entertainment, moisture wicked technical shirts and custom finisher medals make this the best half marathon of the Spring!
April 29 & 30 - New Jersey Half-Marathon & Marathon: This point-to-point marathon, half marathon and relay course travels through the diverse neighborhoods and business districts of Oceanport, Monmouth Beach, Long Branch, Deal, Allenhurst, Loch Arbour, Asbury Park and Ocean Grove.
April 29 & 30 - Wild Half Marathon & 8K: The Wild Half Marathon & 8K combines the love of running with the rhythm of beach life for one amazing half marathon and 8K. Set along the sights and sounds of the Wildwoods, the flat course takes you from stunning beach views of the coast into the action of the boardwalk creating one unforgettable race.
March 19 - New York City Half Marathon: The 2016 United Airlines NYC Half will take runners from around the city and the globe on a 13.1-mile tour of NYC. Led by a talent-packed roster of American and international elites, runners will stop traffic in Manhattan, from Central Park through Times Square to South Street Seaport! [LOTTERY CLOSES DEC 1]
April 30 - SHAPE Women's Half-Marathon: The SHAPE Women’s Half-Marathon is a celebration of women of all ages and backgrounds enjoying a day of fun, fitness and camaraderie. Be a part of the action as we take over Central Park, NYC next spring!
May 20 - AirBNB Brooklyn Half - The Airbnb Brooklyn Half, the largest half-marathon in the country, is an iconic 13.1-mile journey through the amazing borough of Brooklyn. The race starts near the Brooklyn Museum and ends at a finish line on the Coney Island boardwalk.
The Airbnb Brooklyn Half is part of NYRR's Five-Borough Series: Run New York. Five Boroughs. One City.
March 11 - United Airlines Rock 'n' Roll Washington, D.C. 5K, Half-Marathon, Marathon: The race, known for having the only marathon course contained entirely within the District of Columbia, originated as the National Marathon, in 2006. DC’s iconic landmarks set the stage for a race like no other. Runners enjoy great community support, cheer and rockin’ music, interspersed with sights like the White House, Washington Monument and the Capitol Hill district.
April 2 - Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Miler & 5K Run-Walk: The course is flat, fast, and certified. Landmarks along the route include the Jefferson Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, the Watergate complex, and the Tidal Basin.
