Recap: We Attended Wanderlust 108 in Philadelphia

My first experience at Wanderlust 108 was amazing! New to Wanderlust 108? It’s a day-long ‘mindful triathlon’ where attendees complete a 5K, yoga, and guided meditation (three of my favorite activities) in the same day. I was invited by our friends at Swisse Wellness, Australia’s number one vitamin and supplement company, to attend Wanderlust 108 and the Swisse Discover Happiness Experience. This year’s event was held at the Navy Yard Marine Parade Grounds. It was a beautiful location and we were lucky to get sunny weather after an evening of clouds and rain. When we arrived, we walked into a sea of yoga mats and a few vendors ready to take on the day. The volunteers and staff at each booth were very friendly and welcoming. Our first order of business? Find a good location to drop our yoga mats and prepare for the 5K run.


The 5K Run

The Wanderlust 108 5K is a fun run that is welcoming to runners of all levels and abilities (walkers are welcome!). Since I’m in a boot, I could not participate but Takia and other women from the City Fit Girls community were ready to get 3.1 miles in before jumping in to yoga. They described the course as flat and fun. Since the run is not chip-timed, there was no pressure to focus too much on pace. The hosts even encouraged dancing into the finish line to ensure a positive environment.


Swisse Discover Happiness Experience

While everyone else was running, I made my way over to the Swisse Discover Happiness Experience. They had the largest set-up at the festival to keep attendees entertained throughout the course of the day. There was a Dream Dome for guided meditation, chair massages, a resting area filled with positive affirmations and plants (who doesn’t love to see a beautiful floral arrangement?), and a booth to find out your ‘supplement prescription’.

Even though I couldn’t run, I was able to get a chair massage and chat with the Swisse staff about which supplements would be best for me. I’m looking forward to trying:

This session was hosted by Faith Hunter, a Washington, D.C. based instructor who was full of energy and had an uplifting personality. Faith mixed a traditional Vinyasa flow with a dance party on the lawn. We were dancing to the beats of the DJ, singing along to our favorite songs, and most importantly, being our unapologetic selves. It was a one of a kind yoga experience and a great reminder to never stop dancing. If you’re in the D.C. area, be sure to drop in one of Faith’s classes.

In addition to the group yoga session, I took advantage of the small group yoga in the Swisse Discover Happiness Experience. Because of my injury, there are a few moves that I can’t do in a regular practice so it was great to have an instructor make modifications that worked for me.



After the group yoga session, we went straight into meditation led by Tracee Stanley. Tracee’s voice was so calming and relaxing that a few attendees fell asleep during the practice. The meditation was a great way to close out the group activities. We left this session feeling inspired, centered, and ready to take on the rest of the day.

In addition to the group meditation, Swisse gave attendees a chance to experience guided meditation in the Dream Dome.

Overall, my first experience at Wanderlust 108 was one-of-kind. This event is accessible to anyone regardless of where you are on your fitness journey. That’s an important factor for us and why we accepted the invitation to partner with Swisse. We’re looking forward to attending more Wanderlust 108 events in the future!
