It's been a while since we had our last indoor cycling class so we were very excited to partner with our friends at Flywheel to host a private (after hours) workout for City Fit Girls! If you've never taken an indoor cycling (sometimes referred to as spin) class, be sure to read this recap!
We've been making our way around Philadelphia connecting the City Fit Girls community with workouts, gyms and studios. This past weekend, we teamed up with our friends at City Fitness to bring you two back-to-back workouts.
This past weekend, we headed to Center City for two back-to-back sessions at Fit Tribe, a gym that provides both group personal training as well as one-on-one personal training. We learned about this gym from our friend and Coach, Rosie, who teaches at their Bryn Mawr location. She hosted a workout at last year's City Fit Girls' FitRetreat and we heard nothing but positive reviews. The best part about Fit Tribe? All workouts are just 30-minutes!
On Saturday, January 20 we headed to South Philadelphia for two back-to-back sessions at Freehouse Fitness. Freehouse Fitness offers rebounding, reformer and band workouts that are tough, effective and fun! According to Freehouse, their studio is "free from "methods" and fitness fads", they believe in exercise diversity, highly-educated instructors, personal attention and a positive studio environment!
On Saturday, January 13, we headed to Center City Philadelphia to try a workout at Subversus Fitness. Formally known as CrossFit Center, Subversus Fitness offers a wide range of classes including Gymnastics, Olympic Lifting, Endurance, DurABLE, and traditional CrossFit. Keep reading to learn about our experience and view our photo album below.
On Monday December 11th, we opted for an indoor sweating and goal setting session with our friends at SLT (Strengthen Lengthen Tone) in Philadelphia. SLT is a full body workout that is done with weighted springs (on a megaformer) that requires constant engagement of the core for 50 minutes. They have studios in New York City, Brooklyn, Boston, and more so you can try them out if you're not in the Philadelphia Region.
Ever go to a gym but feel unsure of what to do once you get there? Are you tired of having to wait in line for weights after the "I like to pick things up and put them down" bros finish their reps? Trying to get in a 30 to 45-minute sweat sesh shouldn't be so daunting. It should be fun!
And that's where fitness boutiques, or personalized fitness studios, come in. They are small and personable with some seriously creative programming. While the costs for these unique experiences can get pricey, let's just rejoice at the fact that there are new ways to workout and have fun while doing it. Keep reading to find some of our favorites!
If you're looking for a low-impact cardio-workout that strengthens your quads, hamstrings, calves and core (yes, please!) then indoor cycling, sometimes referred to as spin can be a great class to try.
I was first introduced to AIR by my roommate. She was captivated by the idea of completing tricks with silks like the performers in Cirque du Soleil and pestered me until I agreed to go with her. Eventually, I gave in and decided to defy gravity.
